I trapped the wrong cat but ended up with a severely injured senior who desperately needed help! It feels like a kitty miracle. No more struggling to survive! Please send well wishes to Barney
On top of the deep wounds he has, he’s FIV+ and had to have almost the rest of his teeth pulled (there were even exposed roots)! It’s so sad thinking about him out there in so much pain.
Also worth mentioning how wild the difference between vet prices can be, and how compassionate some vets are!
I was up all night with this poor baby at the ER, where I was quoted between $2300-3700 to put a drain in a large wound and stitch up a bunch of smaller wounds. I’m already trying to raise money for cat FIP medication I can’t afford, so I couldn’t even afford $23, let alone $2300!

I left with him and finally found a wonderful rescue to help this morning. He went to their vet (which I know it’d obviously be less than the ER, but not like this!) and to put a drain/tube in, stitches in multiple spots, bloodwork, and even a freakin neuter AND dental.. for $200!!! This man is the most amazing angel of a vet I have ever experienced. I hope we can all have a Dr. Mike in our lives when needed!

Edit: I didn’t expect this to reach more than 10 people and really appreciate everyone’s kind words! I’ve been trying to raise a little bit to help 2 sick cats I’m taking care of if anyone would be willing to help save some other lives! (FIP is awful and so expensive) Just these nice comments have really helped me so much while I’m going through a hard time with cats though, so thank you all so much!

Edit 2: one of you just donated $500 to my GFM and I can’t stop crying! I am so blown away and wish I could personally thank you!! I can finally afford the rest of the cat medication I needed and can physically feel my body relaxing from being so stressed over this. You are truly my hero, thank you so soooo incredibly much

For any kind hearted people (maybe local to Maryland/Delaware) that might be willing to support the rescue/vet:
Dr. Mike is at Four Paws Animal Hospital in Bridgeville, DE and the nonprofit account there that paid for Barney is “Feral Friends of Millsboro” if anyone wanted to add some money to their account to support future kitties like Barney! (She’s “Bonnies Ferals” on Facebook if anyone can possibly interact with her Barney posts)

This all started with them “trapping the wrong cat”, but we don't think it was actually the wrong cat at all. The cat distribution system works in meowsterious ways, we say that all the time, and clearly, this time, it brought you this beautiful gray kitty. We don't know which cat you were trying to trap, but first - we know, based on everything that you do for the other cats that you have, that you will keep trying. And second, whether you were trying to or not, you saved this cat's life.
This was not the wrong cat at all. This cat ended up exactly where it should be, and we are not the only ones who see it. Each and every person who shared this post, who hepled it get to other people, saw it too. And now, you have more than enough to take care of this sweet beauty and all the other cutie cats that you have.
